Maia Madness

Maia-Mitchell (4)

She sings, she acts, she’s got this adorable Australian accent going on, and you probably recognize her as Callie from the Freeform drama, The Fosters. Yup, I’m all about Maia Mitchell right now! As should you be. And if you’re not…just wait till you get through this piece.

So, people, the Teen Choice Awards recently took place. The awards honor the year’s biggest achievements in a range of categories, the likes of music, movies, sports, TV, and fashion. And obviously, my girl Maia Mitchell, not only presented oh so adorably, but was nominated as Choice TV Actress: Drama for her role as Callie. Might I mention, it was a bunch of 13-19 year olds who got to vote. In other words, WE didn’t get a say in who won. Lucky for you, though, my non-teenage self gets a say in who slayed the blue carpet. My award for Teen Choice Awards Blue Carpet Slayage (yes, I made that up), is none other than….Maiaaaa Mitchell!! Cue the cheers.

Let me break this down for you. Armani, Armani, Armani, Armani. That BOMB (I had to!) sequined bomber? Emporio Armani. 5-pocket coated pants? Emporio Armani. Leopard print clutch? Giorgio Armani. Pointed, patent leather pumps? Giorgio Armani. Maia, if by some twist of fate you end up reading this, know that you absolutely killed it out there. She was actually giving me serious model vibes. Not sure if it was those super long legs, the gorgeous, dewy makeup, or the effortless pony. Bottom line is, it worked incredibly well for her.

Calling all my gals in the medical field. Believe it or not, this look can work incredibly well for you too. In the workplace, no less. Small disclaimer: There will be no Armani labels to speak of. You’ll want to start with a good black pant. I’m talking the sleek and slenderizing Grey’s Anatomy Signature 5-pocket Cargo Pant. In fact, Maia’s Armani pair was a 5-pocket as well. TWINS! Next up, the jacket. Pay close attention. You’ll want to opt for the Cherokee Workwear Snap Front Warm-up Jacket in Surgical Green. Why that green in particular? Well, first off, it offers great contrast to the black, and second and most importantly, it matches the green from Maia’s bomber. Case closed. Of course, no ensemble is complete without a great pair of shoes. I truly wish I could tell all you fashion lovers reading this that whipping out your highest and shiniest patent leather pumps is ideal. Alas, it is so, totally not. Like not at all. Instead you’re going to head on over to our shoe section and purchase the shiniest, patent leather nursing clogs by Cherokee. But see what I did there? Patent leather. So again, twinnies!

Do the Maia stance in the halls, pull your hair back into a textured pony ala Maia… You know what? Call yourself Maia for all I care! This is THE look of the week, and Armani or not, you’re going to slaaaay!
